Dingwall Nickel Plated Steel Long Scale 5-String Bass Strings (45-130)

Custom Tapered for Flawless Multi-Scale 5-String Performance

Dingwall Nickel Plated Steel Long Scale 5-String Bass Strings are custom-engineered to unlock the full sonic potential of multi-scale and fanned-fret instruments. As the pioneer in multi-scale bass design, Dingwall developed these strings specifically to match the unique winding lengths, core wire dimensions, and tension requirements demanded by a 37-inch scale low B string—performance that standard 34-inch or 35-inch bass strings simply cannot achieve.

Constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire over a high-grade hex core, this .045–.130 gauge set provides smooth playability and an exceptionally even dynamic response across all five strings. The high strings deliver warm, musical highs and punchy mid-range definition, while the .130 gauge low B string delivers a tight, clear, and thunderous fundamental tone with zero mud or flop.

Whether you are stringing up a Dingwall Combustion, NG2, NG3, D-Roc, ABZ, or another multi-scale 5-string bass, this set offers uniform feel, perfect intonation, and reliable durability for the stage and studio. Note: All Dingwall 5-string production basses ship from the factory equipped with Dingwall Nickel Strings as standard.

Sanctuary Tone & Intent Profile

• Best For: Dingwall 5-String Basses, Multi-Scale / Fanned-Fret 5-String Instruments, Studio Recording, and Live Performance
• Tone Profile: Balanced, punchy, and articulate with warm highs, clear mid-range punch, and an ultra-tight, thunderous low B string
• Compared To: Standard 34"/35"-scale bass string sets (which lack the proper taper and length for a 37" fanned low B) and custom multi-scale sets
• Sanctuary Expert Note: "Dingwall's 5-string multi-scale design set the benchmark for low B clarity. With a heavier .130 low B, these strings are specifically tapered and wound to handle the 37-inch scale length, delivering a punchy, ultra-focused fundamental tone across the entire instrument."
