Infinite Sustain & Master-Built Japanese Precision Co-Designed by Joe Satriani
The Ibanez Joe Satriani Signature Model JS1GD in Metallic Gold—affectionately known as the "Gold Boy"—represents the pinnacle of Satch’s long-standing collaboration with Ibanez. Handcrafted in Japan, the JS1GD merges classic JS body contours with a 24-fret neck layout and advanced tone-shaping electronics. Built around a resonant Alder body in an eye-catching Metallic Gold finish, this instrument delivers a balanced, bright acoustic voice with focused midrange clarity and long natural sustain.
To unlock Satriani's signature endless notes and screaming harmonic feedback, the JS1GD comes equipped with a custom SUSTAINIAC Stealth PRO driver in the neck position. Controlled via a 3-way mini toggle switch, players can instantly select between Normal (fundamental tone), Mix (fundamental + overtone), and Harmonic modes. In the bridge position, a DiMarzio Satchur8 Alnico humbucker yields smooth, organic distortion, singing harmonics, and articulate string-to-string clarity under high-gain amplification.
Built for speed, expression, and effortless legato, the JS1GD features a ultra-stable 3-piece Maple/Bubinga JS neck paired with a 250mm-radius Rosewood fingerboard and 24 medium frets finished with Ibanez’s Prestige fret edge treatment. An integrated high-pass filter on the volume pot maintains crisp high frequencies when turning down, while the push/pull tone pot engages the Sustainiac system. Anchored by the iconic original Edge double-locking tremolo bridge and complete with the Ultralite Tremolo Arm, the JS1GD provides bulletproof tuning stability under extreme dive bombs and whammy effects.
