DR Strings HI-BEAMS Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings - Heavy (50-110)

Hand-Wound Round Core Brilliance with Heavy-Gauge Power and Tension

DR Strings HI-BEAMS™ Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings are world-renowned among modern bassists for their brilliant top-end clarity, extended harmonic life, and effortlessly flexible feel. Handcrafted in Westwood, New Jersey, HI-BEAMS are meticulously hand-wound on a traditional round core, setting them apart from stiffer, mass-produced hex-core stainless strings.

The Heavy .050–.110 gauge combination provides maximum fundamental low-end weight, increased physical tension, and exceptional pitch stability—making it the ultimate choice for heavy rock, high-gain metal, and drop-tuned configurations (such as Drop D or Drop C). The round core construction allows the stainless steel wrap wire to conform completely along the entire length of the core, yielding superior flexibility, smooth tactile comfort under the fingers, and immense acoustic sustain. Highly resistant to fret wear while delivering aggressive top-end sizzle and cutting mid-range growl, HI-BEAMS punch through dense stage mixes with absolute authority.

Designed for standard 34-inch scale 4-string electric basses, the EH-50 set is engineered for players who demand maximum dynamic drive, authoritative string tension, and unrelenting low-end power. Whether tracking heavy riffs in the studio or commanding the stage, DR Hi-Beams deliver bright, modern tone that stays vibrant gig after gig.

Sanctuary Tone & Intent Profile

• Best For: 4-String Electric Basses, Heavy Rock, Progressive Metal, Drop-Tuned Basses, Slap Bass, and Studio Session Work
• Tone Profile: Thunderous, bright, and authoritative with massive low-end focus, cutting mid-range growl, soaring top-end sizzle, and supple round-core playability
• Compared To: Standard hex-core stainless steel heavy sets (which feel excessively rigid under the hands) and traditional nickel strings
• Sanctuary Expert Note: "Handcrafted in Westwood, New Jersey, the EH-50 heavy set delivers massive bottom-end wallop and tension ideal for heavy rock or drop-tunings. Thanks to DR's flexible round core, these heavy .050-.110 strings stay surprisingly supple under the fingers while pumping out explosive stainless brightness."
