Every PRS Private Stock instrument represents the pinnacle of guitar craft, utilizing the rarest, highest-grade woods from Paul Reed Smith’s legendary "Vault." In October 2025, Brian and Geo traveled to the PRS factory in Stevensville, Maryland, to hand-select the individual tonewoods and specify every detail of a batch of Private Stock Guitars, including this one, #11925. From the structural grain of the spalted maple top to the exact color gradient of the blue fade inlays, this Custom 24 is a unique, one-of-one art piece engineered for maximum playability and tonal depth.
Custom Finish & Wood-Reveal Aesthetics
This instrument showcases a custom Silver Foil with Blue Accents finish, executed with meticulous natural reveals that expose the underlying spalted maple figure. The single F-hole is bound in silver foil with a blue wrap where necessary to integrate seamlessly into the top color scheme. The African Mahogany back features Antique Natural toner, paired with a custom matching wood backplate that keeps the rear controls completely flush and unified with the body.
Tone, Resonance, and Electronics
The semi-hollow mahogany body and spalted top yield an acoustically rich baseline with immediate attack and airy, open sustain. Uncovered PRS 59/09 humbuckers provide vintage PAF-style warmth with distinct high-end articulation. Utilizing intuitive McCarty wiring, the control layout features a master volume, master tone with push-pull coil splitting, and a 3-way toggle switch—delivering everything from thick humbucking punch to glassy single-coil tones.
Playability & Hardware
Built on a 25" scale length, the pattern regular mahogany neck features an ebony fretboard with a 10" radius and 24 PRS standard frets. Hardware is finished in Smoked Black, featuring tweaked Phase III locking tuners with ebony buttons and the non-standard PRS Adjustable Stoptail Bridge, offering rock-solid intonation and maximum string-to-body vibration transfer.
