Hand-Selected Vault Excellence: PRS Private Stock Custom 24 #12461
Hand-selected by Brian and George during our fall PRS Vault visit in Stevensville, Maryland, Private Stock #12461 represents the pinnacle of American boutique luthiery. Built around an extraordinary Curly Maple top finished in dramatic Frostbite Glow, this Custom 24 pairs historic PRS playability with an exceptional tonewood selection carefully chosen for its resonant warmth and visual depth.
Unlike standard production models, PS #12461 features a resonant Black Limba back paired with a solid Black Limba neck shaped to PRS's ultra-comfortable Pattern Thin profile. The neck is finished in a smooth satin nitrocellulose for a fast, played-in feel, while the body shines in high-gloss nitro. The dark Ebony fretboard and headstock veneer serve as the canvas for classic Original Bird inlays crafted from White Mother of Pearl outlines and deep Black Mother of Pearl centers, crowned with an Old School Private Stock Eagle on the headstock.
Tonally, this instrument is powered by a set of uncovered PRS 85/15 humbuckers wired to a 5-way blade controller using PRS’s classic 5-way rotary tonal scheme. The Black Limba body adds a woody, articulate midrange punch that perfectly complements the clear treble response and singing sustain of the 85/15 pickups. Outfitted in stealthy Smoked Black hardware, Tweaked Phase III locking tuners, and housed in a Private Stock Molded hardshell case, PS #12461 is a collector-grade masterpiece built to perform on any stage.
