All-Solid Acoustic Mastery with Warm Western Red Cedar Tone
The Guitar Sanctuary is proud to present a very special version of the Maton SRS808C Solid Road Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar. While standard SRS808C models feature a Sitka Spruce soundboard, this exclusive build swaps in an "A" Grade Western Red Cedar top. Sourced from the West Coast of North America, Cedar is lighter and softer than Spruce, producing a sweeter, warmer response with immediate low-end bloom and rich harmonic overtones. Combined with all-solid Victorian Blackwood back and sides, this instrument delivers incredible clarity and touch sensitivity—making it an absolute dream for fingerstyle players and light-to-medium strummers.
Designed around Maton's iconic 808 body shape with a comfortable soft cutaway, the SRS808C punches far above its compact size. It utilizes Maton’s signature Scalloped X-bracing to maximize soundboard efficiency, yielding surprising acoustic projection and balanced midrange punch. Powering its live performance is the legendary Maton AP5-Pro pickup system, widely regarded as the gold standard for amplified acoustic tone. Featuring dual elements—a cardioid condenser microphone paired with an under-saddle piezo—the AP5-Pro lets you blend warm internal air dynamics with crisp, feedback-resistant string attack for true venue-ready transparency.
Sanctuary Expert Note
If you love the intimate body shape and bulletproof gigging reliability of Maton's 808 series but want a rounder, warmer, and more immediate acoustic voice than Sitka Spruce provides, this Western Red Cedar SRS808C is the ticket. The way the Cedar soundboard responds to subtle fingerpicking dynamics is pure magic—warm, vintage-leaning, and endlessly musical.
