Disaster Area Designs MIDI Box 4.2

Presenting the updated Disaster Area Designs MIDI Box 4.2 control interface for pedals.

Updated and more powerful than ever, the MIDI Box 4.2 converts standard 5-pin (DIN) MIDI communications to a variety of 1/4″ formats.

Four independent control ports interface to your devices, configurable on the fly without a computer or editor.  Just flip the switches to the correct mode and play!

Each control port may be set to one of several output modes, selectable using the DIP switches on the face of the MIDI Box 4.2.

Tip Active: Suits Strymon, Alexander, Meris, Empress, Bondi, and other devices using voltage mode on the jack tip

Ring Active:  Suits Chase Bliss Audio and other devices using voltage mode on the jack ring

TRS MIDI TYPE A:  Sets the tip active and pulls the ring terminal high, for use with Boss, EAE, Jackson, and other devices that conform to the MIDI TRS specification.  Also works with the MJ-5P MultiJack to MIDI cable to provide additional standard MIDI outputs from the MIDI Box 4.2

TRS MIDI TYPE B:  Alternate wiring option, most commonly used by European makers.  Sends signal on the jack ring, pulls the jack tip high.  Suits Darkglass, Arturia, 1010 Music, many modular synths.

Tip and Ring Active:  Provides separate outputs on tip and ring of the control port, enabling two MIDI outputs using a TRS Insert Cable. *Not shown on enclosure: set TH & RH OFF, R & T ON.

Supported Devices:

Chase Bliss Audio: All current pedals. Connect with TRS cable, set port to RING ACTIVE.

Meris: All current pedals using 1/4” MIDI.  Connect with mono / TS cable.  Set port to TIP ACTIVE.

Boss:  All 200-series pedals and any other pedals with 1/8″ MIDI jacks.  Use TRS / stereo cable.  Set port to TRS MIDI TYPE A.

Jackson Audio:  All MIDI-compatible pedals.  Use TRS / stereo cable.  Set port to TRS MIDI TYPE A.

Alexander Pedals:  Connect with mono / TS cable.  Set port to TIP ACTIVE.
