PRS's SE Series (short for "Student Edition") was originally conceived by Paul Reed Smith and Carlos Santana, as a way for players of all skill levels and budgets to have the opportunity to own a guitar with fantastic build quality, playability, and tones, at a more affordable price range.
It has since grown to include a lineup of import versions of PRS's popular US built CORE models, as well as Signature models unique to the S2 Series. While they are built overseas, they are done under the close supervision of PRS's USA team, and each guitar goes through a rigorous inspection and setup process at PRS's USA factory before shipping to dealers.
