Steve Barbee

Steve Barbee was one of the inaugural staff members invited to join our team when we opened in 2011. He came to us as a Bass guitar specialist from the Prestonwood School of Fine Arts. Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that has helped us expand our offering to students looking for beginning to advanced Bass guitar instruction. His student roster includes some of the most seasoned Bass guitarists in North Texas. Steve is a graduate of Baylor University and was a member of the Baylor Jazz Band.

Steve works well with ages 12 and up. His teaching style focuses on the important role Bassists play in a band and how to make their playing more musical through theory, technique, and improvisation. He offers beginning to advanced Bass guitar lessons. Steve would be an excellent choice for high school and college jazz band students looking for someone to assist them with audition prep and for professional musicians looking to enhance their live performance skills.

Steve is a veteran of the live music scene in DFW. He’s most known for his 23-year tenure as the staff Bass guitarist for Prestonwood Baptist Church where has performed alongside nationally acclaimed jazz, country, and Grammy award winning contemporary Christian artists.

Steve is available for lessons on Saturdays.
